Eight O'clockers Rejoice

After a summer hiatus, this Sunday, October 2nd we resume our 8 a.m. worship service.  The 8 a.m. service is a tradition that attracts a loyal group of worshippers, and it's a great joy that we are able to resume the tradition.

Welcome Back to Our Beloved Ginny

The Rev Dr. Virginia Sheay returns this Sunday October 2nd after a summer away in Southport Island Maine and All Saints By the Sea Episcopal Church.  After her time away, Ginny says "I'm completely recharged - so watch out!".  While in Southport, Ginny takes on many roles at All Saints by the Sea, including chair of the music committee.  And she happily adds "I'm the innkeeper too" when referring to her many overnight friends and family that spent time with her in Southport.  Ginny will be regularly assisting at the 8:00 and 9:30 worship service.  Welcome back!

What does King Henry VIII have to do with the Episcopal Church?
Find out on Sunday October 23rd and October 30th!

Come to our Chapel Talks following the 9:30 AM service on the dates above and find out. Designed for newcomers at Trinity (but anyone can come) who want to learn about the Episcopal Church, the Reverends John Bartle and Ginny Sheay will teach about the history, faith, and worship of the Episcopal Church and much more! All newcomers are invited to participate in these sessions, and the Newcomers’ Welcome Liturgy on All Saints Sunday, November 6 at the 9:30 AM service.

Saturday October 8th - 3-9 p.m.

"Come Autumn, Come All" - that's the cry going out for one and all to join Trinity's first Fall Food Truck Festival.  A group of Trinity Youth Group Alumni are organizing this event,  scheduled for Saturday, October 8, between 3:00-9:00 p.m. on the upper portion of the Trinity property.

The event will begin with a sensory hour for children and youth desiring a quieter experience from 3-4 p.m. Food trucks will be available the entire time, as will music and various family friendly games and activities. Music starts at 5:00 p.m. For more information and to pre-purchase event tickets, check trinitysolebury.org/comeautum, or email comeautumn@trinitysolebury.org

Game On for Cookie Bake Light!

This year we are making Cookie Bake a little easier with an experiment called Cookie Bake Light: fewer working days, light dough only, a doable goal of 8,000-10,000 cookies and division of the leadership into four - Cinda Ball, Linda Kenyon, Lorri Perkins, and Beth Schermerhorn. We want to have fun, and we want you to have the most fun ever! We chose to work with light dough only because the dark dough is trickier to mix and harder to roll.  We are also thinking of  those with nut allergies. We will still be making your favorite shapes and plenty of almond rounds!

  • November 7 - rolling and baking
  • November 9 - rolling, baking, and decorating
  • November 10 - rolling, baking, and decorating
  • November 11 - rolling, baking, decorating, and packing
  • November 12 - rolling, baking, decorating, and packing
  • November 14 - rolling, baking, decorating, and packing
  • November 15 - rolling, baking, decorating, and packing
  • November 16 - decorating, packing, and clean up

Questions? Contact Cinda Ball, Linda Kenyon, Lorri Perkins, Beth Schermerhorn.

Cookie Bake - Seeking Almond Splitters
Friday October 14th, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Looking for 8-12 volunteers to help split almonds that will be used in Cookie Bake. It is a one time commitment. Come to Cinda Ball's house (close to Trinity) and bring your favorite small knife.

We will provide the almonds and cutting boards. Folks are welcome to join us for the whole morning, or any time you can spare. Looking forward to the shared task and fellowship!

Please find the sign up sheet in the Narthex or email, text, or call Cinda Ball to sign up (cindaball4@icloud.com, 215-262-2500).

Trinity Forums Are Back!

Watch it now at trinitysolebury.org/watch

This past Sunday Trinity Forums returned after a 2-year hiatus with "Examining Our Hearts: Racial Awareness, Justice, and Healing" presented by Betty Stagg, Mary Miller, and Ann Koberna. Our presenters shared their moving stories of the impact of the Episcopal Church's film-based racial and social justice seminar series, "Sacred Ground." Following the presentation, a questionnaire was distributed to gather information on the preferences of our congregation for further study and personal experience with these crucial issues in our society and Christian communities.

We will be hearing more in the coming months about plans for further offerings, and would love to hear from you: email your comments and ideas for future Trinity forums  to mschuster@trinitysolebury.org.

We Still Need  a Loaned Golf Cart for "Come Autumn, Come All" Festival: The food truck festival leadership team is seeking a source for a loaned golf court for the fall festival this Saturday, October 8. Please contact Kyle Evans at kyle.evans55@gmail.com if you have a golf cart or know someone who does. It will enable volunteers to move people and supplies safely and efficiently to the upper parking lot from the lower lot and main church building.

Trinity Day School Safety: School safety is a top priority for our day school.  For the protection of all involved, no one other than students and staff may enter any of the day school doors. If you need access to the kitchen, or McArthur Hall between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. M-F, please leave a message at the office (215-297-5135) .  If you must enter the church during day school hours, you may do so through the newly installed combination lock on the narthex door in the McNeill Garden.  Please contact your ministry leader or call the church office for the combination.

New Rector Transition and Search

Trinity’s Rector Search Committee has been diligently working to identify candidates. This is a process of discernment, and was preceded by a period of study and self-reflection, including a series of small group feedback sessions led by Vestry and a professional congregation-wide survey, culminating in the publication of a Parish Profile, which may be seen at trinitysolebury.org/transition The work of the Search Committee is done in collaboration with the Episcopal Diocese of Philadelphia through their representative, Canon Arlette Benoit Joseph. This is a very significant time in the life of our congregation. Vestry members, the Search Committee, and Canon Joseph all welcome inquiries and comments from Trinity members.

If you know someone who could recommend a good candidate or someone who would be a good candidate, please refer them to our website, trinitysolebury.org and trinitysolebury.org/newcalling where they will find information regarding the application process. As you travel on vacation, who knows? You may meet an ideal candidate.

The search committe members are:

Barbara Tortorello, Chair;
Doug Brindley
Melodee Fox
Kim Laughlin
Bill Jaglowski
Lisa Landley
Eric Muth
Patrick Summers
Roger Stikeleather
Susan Wells

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact anyone of us on the committee.

Please pray for our church, our committee members, and our future rector - that they are guided and inspired to do God's work and follow His direction.

For Candidates: Incorporated in 1860 and located in scenic, historic Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Trinity Episcopal Church is seeking to call a full-time Rector to lead and inspire our active and committed parish. At Trinity, we are self-motivated Christians, eager to share and impatient to see God's love and justice spread throughout our world.

Please take the time to learn about us by reviewing our website www.trinitysolebury.org, our New Rector Search page trinitysolebury.org/newcalling, which contains our parish profile, and our position description.

Interested applicants should send cover letter, resume, and OTM profile to Canon Arlette Benoit Joseph at abenoitjoseph@diopa.org.

Please feel free to contact any vestry members or the wardens (Julie Loftus - jloftus@trinitysolebury.org and James Wells - jwells@trinitysolebury.org) with any ideas, concerns, joys, or judgements about the transition.

A Prayer for the Parish in the Time of Transition

Glorious and gracious God, you have blessed Trinity Church with a goodly heritage of worship, fellowship, and service. And you have inspired our pastoral leaders, over the years,to keep us faithful to the mission of proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ to each succeeding generation. For this we are thankful.

Now as we search for a new Rector, we seek your guidance and insight to help us discern whom you would have us call to be our companion, as together we go forward into the future of your advancing Kingdom. May that Priest be wise, compassionate, thoughtful, and filled with the Holy Spirit.

In the meantime, may we be strong and united in one common purpose, supporting and caring for one another and active with you in the fragile world around us.

All this we ask in the name of the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Rev. John D. Bartle +
