“Stewardship” is a spiritual discipline
but that must be realized through time, talent and treasure
for Trinity to continue it's good works

In a recent sermon I mentioned that “stewardship” is a spiritual discipline, not a one-off annual conversation about supporting the parish. This, however, is the conversation about supporting the parish, and I am hoping that you will prayerfully consider all aspects of the way you take a portion of your life: your time, your gifts, your financial resources, and dedicate that to the work of building up God’s kingdom and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The sharing of your plans helps the Vestry and I make a responsible mission plan for 2024, and to do that we need to take stock of the contributions of our members. This isn’t just about finances, we would love to learn how you volunteer your precious time to this parish, and what gifts you find joy in sharing in your life as a disciple. To that end, if you are a Trinity member, you will soon be receiving a card asking you to provide insight into those three areas: time, talent, and treasure. Please return that card or pedge online as quickly as possible so that the Vestry and I can begin our work.

If you are not a Trinity member, and feel moved to support us on our mission, please don't hesitate! Please go to trinitysolebury.org/pledge

One thing I have come to realize about Trinity Church is that we are a community with lots of hopes and dreams. Some of these are to continue to grow the ministries we are already doing. Others are about starting new ways to serve God and each other. Thank you for all you do to make that vision, yours and ours, a reality.

Grace and Peace,
The Rev. Rob Baldwin+

Episcopal Church Foundation
Ministry Tip of the Week

Give thanks for everything you’ve been given

This Thursday is the "Great Turkey Day" where, in recognition of all of the great gifts that are constantly bestowed upon us, most of us will enjoy a true feast for dinner. But what if you aren't as privileged and lucky as most of us who live in Solebury; what if you are struggling just to put food on the table.  How does gratitude feel then? In this article, Jerimiah Sierra takes a look at this exact question.

Adult Forum Looks at the Liturgical Year

On Sunday, November 26 at 11:00 a.m., Rob will be leading an Adult Forum in the chapel on the liturgical calendar of the Episcopal Church. Learn about the seasons of the church year, holidays, and traditions like liturgical colors. Ever wonder why Easter is never on the same day, or why Pentecost Sunday is red but the Pentecost season is green, then drop in for a educational conversation after the 9:30 a.m. service.

Rectory Construction Update

The rectory construction is nearing to a close. Frank Torterello and his volunteers have been working diligently and only some miscellaneous painting remains, followed by the refinishing of the entrance level floors.  Frank is hoping that the Baldwins can move in the first full week of December!

Thank you Frank, Gene Fox, Ken Turi, Sean and Marcia Tucker, and all the many volunteers that helped out along the way

Foyer Dinner Groups Are Back!

This Fall has been an exciting time with the arrival of our new minister and his family. The Cottage Dinners (with Rob and his Family) and many other social activities have been keeping us all busy. Still, many have been asking me about Foyer Dinners, so we are planning to resume them in the new year.

Foyer Dinner Groups (from the French word "foier" meaning "hearth" or "home") are a way to grow comradery and relationships in our church. They are a fun and easy way for parishioners to gather on a regular but informal basis for purely social reasons - to enjoy one another’s company, to strengthen bonds of community, to meet new members and to get to know other people who share a common interest in our faith but with whom we might not otherwise interact.

We will divide into groups of 10 or so and meet once a quarter – Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. The host provides the main course and beverages while the rest of the group brings appetizers, salads, side dishes and desserts. The group decides during the gathering when to meet next and who will host.

If you feel your home is too small to host, you can always co-host with someone else or arrange a Dutch Treat dinner at a local restaurant.

If you haven’t already contacted me, kindly let me know if you are interested in Foyers 2024.

Bon Appétit to all,

Cathy Mumford

Tim Harrell’s 25th Anniversary of Service

as Parishioner, Organist & Choirmaster

August 23rd marked Tim Harell's  25th Anniversary as Organist/Choirmaster of Trinity.  A much beloved parishioner as well as our Organist/Choirmaster, his many contributions of "Time, Talent and Treasure" have been a gift to us all and the greater community.

His professional expertise and numerous accomplishments are noted below. But his contribution to Trinity is inestimable. "Thursday choir rehearsal has been the highlight of my week for 25 years!" says choir member Eric Muth.  Eric continues: "Tim's remarkable musical ability, is exceeded only by his kindness and patience. That is why our non-auditioned choir is so much better than we have any reason to expect."  With much gratitude, the choir recently hosted Tim at a Celebration Dinner to honor him.

Tim joined us officially in August 1998, but you may not realize that he started performing here as an organist from 1985-1994 for our choir’s summer concerts conducted by then Music Director Ron Kirshner.

Tim says: "Then in 1998, I reached out to David Anderson to see if Trinity had a midweek service. I was looking for something to feed me spiritually."  When Ron Kirshner retired, one thing led to another and Tim joined us full-time.

Even though Tim had begun speaking with Trinity about a role with us before the fire, he says: "I accepted Trinity's offer after the fire, knowing full well that we would start by conducting services in a school gym and with the choir rehearsing in the Audubon Barn".  It was quite a downgrade to an electronic keyboard instead of a fine pipe organ to which he was accustomed, but Tim was able to adapt and help make that time in the gymnasium one of the most remarkable in Trinity's history.

When asked how Tim feels some 25 years later about joining, he says: "I feel first like a parishioner, but also feel very proud and professionally fulfilled in my role as Organist/Choirmaster."

We couldn’t be happier and more thankful for Tim’s decision to join us 25 years ago!
